Opening Speech by Government Rep

Keynote Speaker:  “Harnessing Collective Strength: Women Leading Transformative Philanthropy”

Topic: Collaborative Partnerships to scale impact and catalyze change.

Cross-sectoral partnerships are central to multiplying change and scaling solutions to tackle systemic issues.This session will shed light on how philanthropy actors can resolve the complex social and economic challenges women and girls face through multi-stakeholder partnerships and joint action. Panelists will discuss models that women philanthropy organisations can leverage with their expertise, resources and networks of partners to achieve heightened collective impact. The discussion will include different forms of multi-stakeholder partnerships like public-private-philanthropy (PPPs) for development, cross-sector for collaboration, joint programming, and resource pooling. 

Networking & Coffee Break

The networking and coffee break session provides the opportunity for the philanthropy actors to connect with other participants, potential partners, and mentors. It  will also serve as an icebreaker for participants to engage with one another.

Together We Give to Women and Girls: Funders, Intermediaries, Community Experience

At this session we will engage funders, intermediaries and community stakeholders in a discussion on the effectiveness of collaboration and how collective efforts can be beneficial to the well-being of women and girls. This will be a participatory discussion approach on philanthropy interventions (eg. civil engagement, financial education & matching funds, social enterprise, entrepreneurship and small business accelerator, grant funding and STEAM Education) and collective transformation experiences on moments for Philanthropy Ghana, with funders, women and girls and community changemakers. At the group level participants will explore the powerful synchronicities that drive our collective impact for women and girls.

Spotlight on funders, intermediaries & community impact

This session will showcase successful collaborative philanthropic and social enterprise projects. These presentations are valuable as they provide participants with concrete examples of successes , challenges and lessons learned, often sparking discussions and inspiring new ideas. By fostering collaboration, showcasing successful initiatives, and encouraging innovation, the conference seeks to address systemic barriers and enhance the effectiveness of women-led philanthropic efforts.

Session 1: Community Philanthropy

This session will examine how the power dynamic is shifting with the rise of community philanthropy and other forms of locally-driven giving.  The session will also explore the strength of community practices in the philanthropic sector and the need for harnessing its potential to decolonize the source of funding. Panelists will share best practices for building a collective community philanthropy ecosystem in Ghana. 

Session 2: Corporate Philanthropy- Bridging the Gap: Business and Philanthropy Partnerships for Community Transformation

This session will highlight successful collaborations between businesses and philanthropic organizations, focusing on how corporate resources, expertise, and networks can support community transformation. Panelists will discuss strategies for aligning business objectives with social good, creating sustainable initiatives, and fostering a culture of corporate responsibility. The goal is to inspire impactful business-philanthropy partnerships that address community needs and contribute to meaningful societal change.

Session 3: Volunteerism and Alumni Giving

This session will showcase how alumni networks and volunteer initiatives can drive resource mobilization, mentorship, and community engagement. Panelists will discuss best practices for building strong alumni programs, fostering a culture of giving back, and leveraging volunteer efforts to address local needs.

The session aims to inspire participants to harness the power of collective volunteerism action and sustained alumni involvement for lasting community impact

This session aims to provide insights into leveraging technology tools and media channels to build stronger connections with stakeholders, increase visibility, and drive sustainable growth within the philanthropy sector.
